Frequently Asked Questions

I. Air Compressors & Dryers

How do I choose the correct air compressor size for my shop?

The most important factor is the required CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) and PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) of the tools you will run simultaneously. We recommend calculating the CFM of all frequently used air tools, multiplying that total by 1.5 (for a safety buffer), and selecting a compressor that meets or exceeds that figure.

What is the difference between a Piston (Reciprocating) and a Rotary Screw Compressor?

Piston compressors are ideal for intermittent use (max 50-60% duty cycle) and smaller workshops. Rotary Screw compressors (like Fini) are designed for continuous, heavy-duty operation (24/7), are more energy-efficient, and generally produce cleaner, cooler air, making them better for larger industrial applications.

Do I need an air dryer for my compressed air system?

Yes, for almost all professional applications. Compressed air naturally contains moisture, which can cause rust in your air tools, equipment, and piping. An air dryer (either Refrigerant or Desiccant) removes this moisture, preventing equipment damage, ensuring product quality (e.g., paint finish), and reducing maintenance costs.

How often should I drain my air receiver tank?

You should drain your air receiver tank daily (or use an automated drain) to prevent water build-up. Water left in the tank causes rust, which weakens the tank walls and can contaminate your entire air system.

How often do Fini/Industrial compressors require servicing?

Service intervals are typically based on operating hours. For Rotary Screw Compressors, oil and filters usually need changing every 3,000 to 4,000 running hours (depending on the model and usage) to maintain peak performance and protect the warranty.
II. Lifting Equipment & Wheel Service

What does LOLER mean for my lifting equipment?

LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) is mandatory UK/EU health and safety legislation. It requires all lifting equipment (including vehicle lifts and jacks like AC Hydraulic) to be "Thoroughly Examined" by a competent person at least every 6 or 12 months (depending on the equipment type).

How do I select the right vehicle lift (e.g., EAE Lift) for my workshop?

You must consider the type of vehicles you service (cars, vans, light commercial), the maximum weight capacity required, and the height of your building. We offer a site survey to ensure you choose the safest and most compliant option.

My Wheel Balancer/Tyre Changer is acting up. What is the first thing to check?

For most wheel service equipment (e.g., mondolfo ferro, Bright), the first check is the air supply. Ensure your air compressor is delivering the required 90-150 PSI to the machine. Low pressure can cause bead breakers or power arms to operate weakly.

What is the significance of CE/UKCA marking on your lifting equipment?

The CE/UKCA mark is a declaration that the equipment meets all essential European/UK health, safety, and environmental protection requirements. All our major brand equipment, such as AC Hydraulic and EAE Lift, are fully certified.

How can I prevent damage to my lift's hydraulic system?

Regularly inspect hydraulic hoses and connections for leaks, keep the area around the lift clean, and ensure you use the correct grade of hydraulic oil as specified in the manufacturer's manual.
III. Air Tools, Service Tools & Fittings

What is the required air pressure for my PCL/professional air tools?

Most professional air tools, including impact wrenches, operate optimally at 90 PSI (6.2 Bar). A drop in pressure, even to 70 PSI, can reduce your tool's power output by 30% or more.

How do I maintain my air tools to ensure longevity?

Lubrication is key. Use a quality air tool oil daily through a line oiler or manually through the air inlet. This prevents internal rust and wear. Also, ensure your airline has an appropriate Filter-Regulator-Lubricator (FRL) unit.

Why is a Norbar torque wrench a better investment than a generic one?

Norbar wrenches are built to high industry standards and come with traceable calibration certificates. This guarantees the accuracy required for critical, safety-related fasteners, ensuring compliance and preventing potential failures on the vehicles you service.

What is the difference between BSPP and BSPT threads for my Airline Fittings?

BSPP (G) is a Parallel thread that requires a separate seal (like a washer or O-ring) for a pressure-tight joint. BSPT (R) is a Tapered thread where the thread itself creates the pressure seal when tightened. Knowing the correct thread type is crucial for preventing leaks.

I have an old tool. Can I get spare parts?

We work with all our major brands (e.g., PCL, Norbar) to supply genuine spare parts. Please provide the model number and the serial number (if possible) of your equipment, and we will check the availability of the required parts or check on our website products if the spare parts are available.
IV. General & Reconditioned Equipment

Do you offer training for complex equipment like Wheel Aligners or Vehicle Lifts?

Yes, we can arrange product-specific training through our own team or directly with the manufacturer (e.g., EAE Lift, mondolfo ferro) to ensure your staff can operate the equipment safely and efficiently.

What does "Reconditioned Equipment" mean?

Reconditioned equipment is used machinery that has been professionally inspected, fully serviced, had any faulty components replaced with genuine parts, and tested to meet the manufacturer's performance standards. It offers a cost-effective alternative to new equipment with a limited warranty.

Does reconditioned equipment come with a warranty?

Yes. All our reconditioned equipment is sold with a limited warranty, the length of which varies depending on the type of machine. The specific warranty details will be clearly listed on the product page.

What are your payment and financing options?

We accept all major credit cards. For large purchases, we offer various financing and leasing options through our partners to help spread the cost. Please contact our sales team for an application form.

How can I get an official quote for a specific brand or large order?

You can request a formal quotation by using the "Contact Us" form on the product page, emailing our sales team directly, or calling us. Please specify the model number, quantity, and your delivery address.
